Graduate Programs

The Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS) is a Graduate School of Marine Sciences of the Middle East Technical University (METU). The Mission and the Vision of Graduate School are to provide high level of education and research in the fields of oceanography.

The Graduate School is carrying out basic and applied research in the seas surrounding Turkey. For this purpose the School has strived, since it’s beginning, to obtain oceanographic equipment incorporating the latest technological developments. Both the sea-going equipment and laboratory instrumentation have been continuously updated to help maintain a level of research comparable with leading oceanographic institutions. The Institute's campus at Erdemli houses laboratories for chemical, biological and geological analyses and data processing. A computing center, a satellite data acquisition and processing center and a library are also part of the main research facilities.
